:: This week Penelope Trunk discussed what Facebook’s IPO means for women. And her honest breakdown of women like Sheryl Sandberg was definitely impressive and how fewer women want to be Sandberg
:: This is thesame week Jeff Atwood bid adieu to Stack Exchange, For the Best Reason Ever – he wants to spend more time with his kids, because it would be a failure to focus on his startup and not his kids. Here is my feeling about that on facebook, nothing again Atwood, but the best reason ever? Nobody says this when a woman calls a press conference to quit their job!
:: The same day I wrote a post on working mothers returning to work after childbirth not protected by the law when it comes to pumping milk at work, there is another article on Huffington Post about mothers returning to work being forced into low paying part-time jobs. I am just appalled, appalled, appalled!
:: Gender Wage Gap hurts women and New Jersey’s economy. You don’t want to pay women equally? Well, it hurts everyone.
:: Current Mom wrote a very interesting article that I think is worth a read about French Parenting Practices and how it benefits Working Moms (and their kids)
Hope everyone has a great weekend! Enjoy

A great round up this week, Blessing. I totally missed the Penelope Trunk article and am so glad I read it. She’s dead on. I don’t think most women really want to make the sacrifices she is making to be at the top of her game. It’s also a great reminder that unless you want your kids to be raised by nannies (and what’s the point if that’s the case) both people can’t be pursuing high-powered careers. I admit to being enthralled by Sharon Sandberg’s message and saw her TED speech. I do think though that she’s not being honest about what she’s giving up to have the level of success she has. My mother always said, “You can have it all, but you can’t have it all at the same time.”
